J & J Cook Performance Horses is a smaller, hands-on operation by design. Due to the Veterinary background of both trainers, you can be assured that your training horses will receive excellent care during their stay.

We offer training from starting colts all the way up to finishing show horses. Because we have two resident trainers, be confident that your horse will get the unique approach that best fits its learning style. Give us a call to discuss your plans for your western performance horse.

We also offer Non Pro show assistance, helping amateur riders reach their goals in the reining or reined cow horse show pen. Visit the News page to read about the recent successes of some of our Non Pros. Not sure if you would like to show in these exciting western events? We can help break down the process for you to understand how to compete successfully, safely and enjoyably.

We are available for clinics, and also sponsor a few clinics with nationally renowned trainers every year - stay tuned to the News page for clinic information. In recent years, we've hosted Don Murphy, Sandy Collier and Jon Roeser, all multiple NRCHA and AQHA Champions. The input from outside sources helps keep our program fresh and productive, as well as fun.

J & J Cook Performance Horses is located two miles west of I-25 at Highway 52 just outside Erie, Colorado. We have a very nice outdoor arena (pictured above), fenced and measuring 170' x 285' with great footing.

The 130' round pen (pictured left) provides ample space to start colts or work out of a herd settled in the center, cutter-style. The indoor arena allows us to ride no matter what the Colorado skies decide to do.

We keep cattle, buffalo and 'Polly Ester', the mechanical cow on hand so that we have many options when training horses and people for reined cow horse.

Horses have always been a necessity in both our lives. It's very important to us to continually work toward improving our own horsemanship and we're eager to share what we have to offer. Give us a call or send us an email and let us know how we can help you reach your horsemanship goals.
